Just imagine, a life with no guilt, no wars, no rivalry, no disagreement or hatred. Just perfect. However, how practical is that? How can we learn from our mistakes if no mistakes are made? History is based on the outlook on the past how each individual from the past made a difference to the present, and we learn from their mistakes in order for a better future.

The phrase ‘no one is perfect’ becomes irrelevant. the matter of perfection, the subsequent need for perfection in this life leads to competitiveness and rivalry. If life was to become actual ‘perfection’, it would only be short term.

No-one needs to have the same commonality, the same tastes, the same interests, or the same dreams in life. Each individual is unique for it to be TOO be perfect. If everyone was the same, in every way the term ‘peas in a pod’ is relevant here. The more likely hood of confrontation. Exactly to that of a physics lesson when two positive ends of a battery come together, they detract.

So in the end, is it really ideal to have THE perfect life, when you already have it. My life isn’t perfect, but I’m happy. I have the most awesome friends and family you can ask for. I love my life, and I have too much life to live, and I have much to look forward to.

It’s funny, how someone can be passionate and take pride in their lineage, and yet in some cases detest the place where they were born. All throughout history, individuals have had an ‘identity’ which they wish to be related to them. Why is this? In one’s opinion, it’s all to do with a sense of belonging within the locality. This does not make us individual in the sense of being ‘unique.’ However, there are obvious different strengths of ‘passionate’ feeling to one’s own country or heritage for instance.

First of all, how do we reflect this? What is apparent is in the circle of sport. Every country have their association with a particular sport, and wish to uphold this value in itself. Personally, one is proud of being Welsh. However, one can’t see why one should be proud. One did nothing to influence its formation, so more of a proudness in a country that is the cause? One was born to a Welsh family, who spoke both Welsh and English. Yet, Welsh was the primary was of communication with one another.

In terms of accents, this in itself defines us as ‘individuals.’ In a survey held in 2005, 5,000 people across the UK were questioned on their attitudes to accents and dialects. It showed that the hindrance of the accent, 56 percent of respondents said they were proud of their accents, more than the figure for the UK as a whole (BBC, 2005) It is important to highlight, that we as individuals did not choose where or how we were brought up. Your country, if nothing else, formed the society in which you grew. It provided some of the opportunity for your parents to produce you, teachers of various kinds to educate you, and perhaps provide a place where you could seek employment and fulfillment in other ways. This was the basis by which Plato argued that each of us owe a debt to our country, perhaps even our entire lives.

On the other hand, is the reason down to ‘filling in the blank’, that something is missing so following the crowd is the only viable option? In a generalized sense applicable to all countries and people, patriotism is a devotion to one’s country, this is in relation to sentiment of nationality. It is important to note that people do have a tendency to defend their home country even though some mention that it is their country by ‘accident of birth.’ As one suggests, it is a unit one belongs to, and this type of support keeps that unit in a sense, cohesive.

Secondly, can the reason be down to one’s own past? We have all been taught since we were children of different values from the older generation. So perhaps influence of others have taught us acceptance and an adopting stance of other people, and that has generated and reflected our views of others. Does this sense of ‘brainwashing’ from early age have its disadvantages can be a restriction? Any identification is divisive. Individuality is divisive. There are good and bad divisive unless you are a pessimist. There is a diverse view that we are drifting from a collective unit. The official survey’s figures confirm the drift away from support for Britain and the growth in nationalism in England as well as in Scotland. Twenty-five years ago 55 per cent said that they felt ‘proud’ to be British but that figure has dropped to 45 per cent. The study found that devolution had had the greatest impact on sense of identity in England, where it may have strengthened an awareness of differences between English and British identity (Daily Mail, 2007). Even though it is seldom a populous movement, nationalism is usually presented as such, and many argue that it is generally able to gain support from individuals of all social backgrounds so long as they identify with the nation (Hroch, 1985).

When we are adults, unlike when we were younger, we have a choice. Now however, we have a choice to stay, or leave. Your society, is a reflection of oneself. So to say your not proud of your land is a statement of the lack of proudness one possesses. This is the basis of social contract theory. In a recent survey 81.7 per cent of Japanese were proud of their nationality, with 91.2 percent of Americans said they were proud of their nationality, followed by 84.1 percent of Britons.* In this survey what was interesting, is that when asked what features of their country they were most proud of, almost 60 percent of Japanese people responded with the country’s ‘history and cultural legacy.’

Being a certain nationality is such a random act in retrospect. Things we have no absolutely no control over? Should we rather be proud if we ourselves achieved something great on our own? One must ask, why do people feel the sense of pride when it comes down to their nationality, as if it is an achievement to be born somewhere? In comparison, all throughout history, despite internal conflicts within family, there was still that component of family values, that was strongly apparent.

In conclusion, identity is what makes every individual unique. It reflects patriotism and nationalism within one’s own country. In the end it is all to do with ‘freedom of speech’ and ‘free will’ as a means of expressing oneself that promotes ‘identity.’ By identifying with the symbols, traditions, and other cultural elements of a country we gain a limited sense of personal solidity.

Louise Williams

It can be from anytime or anyplace and you would still have the ability to feel the same emotion you had in that time. I believe one photo is worth a thousand words. To me this photo summarizes my aspirations and the reason I love what I do. To capture that one thought or ‘moment’ in that present time is tremendous. When you look at a photo time and time again it reminds you of a memory or a feeling you had when you took it. This ‘memory’ or ‘feeling’ that I did and still have when this photo was taken, I do not ever want to lose.

This is what my room now resembles…

This is what my room now resembles…

It was so beautiful. I thought I would never see such a place in my lifetime, and yet there I was. The endless high ceilings which left you gobsmacked. Then, I came to the central part of the Minster, and I came across this spectacular huge organ, and under this beautiful piece, there lie fifteen life size stone figures of English kings from the time of William the Conqueror to Henry VI. This was 394 years of time span, and when I counted how many kings there had been, all suffering different deaths, it was amazing. I stood in front of these stone figures for a long time, studying them, and knowing what became of them, and their influences over an infamous nation. I have spent most of my life studying these individuals, and to finally to see them in such order, in such fine detail, I was awstruck. Then I looked closely as I walked past each, and there were two figures that stood out for me personally, who have given me belief to what I want to pursue in my life.

They were both similar in many respects as they both led similar lives, and suffered the same fate in death. What I felt when I saw these two figures and all I felt was, pity. They were not expected to rule, they were not meant to. However, fate proved otherwise. The second figure was different…

I just saw this figure of a man, well not a man, a boy. I was in awe when I looked upon this stone figure of a king, who received so much controversy within and after his lifetime. Such innocence was shown on his face. He was unaware of what he might face. he did not know that he was to receive such responsibilty in his lifetime, and yet he did what he could.

The death he received, was unnecessary. The stresses of his occupation worsened him not only in his reign, but also, his personal life. In his first phase of his mental instability, the son he had long awaited for, he could not recognize.

As I’m standing in front of these fifteen, who had a chance to change the country to which they ruled, to which few managed to accomplish, there again, I stand in awe, amazed, asking myself, what if? What if these fifteen did this differently, then perhaps the outcome would be very different. However, their destiny and fate was already decided.

Photo

I thought that this was quite an awesome pic.

I thought that this was quite an awesome pic.

This has got to be one of THE scariest horror films EVER…I mean come on, for one…it’s got a clown!

Rizzle Kicks - Down With The Trumpets (ORIGINAL VERSION) (by...

Rizzle Kicks - Down With The Trumpets (ORIGINAL VERSION) (by 167max)

Photo

Road Trip 2011 (Part 1 - Quick Intro)

So far, ever since I’ve finished my second year at Uni, things have gone even better in all aspects of my life.

In around few weeks time I’ll be pursuing my ‘road trip’, ….well more like an Indiana Jones meets Fast and the Furious considering this will be my first time driving on the motorway…well…without my instructor anywho :P However, I cannot say more how much I’m looking forward to the experience. I’ve already prepped the Batmobile aka ‘Benji’ (yes…I named my car Benji, it’s a hardcore name, get over it! It’s not like I named it Albert haha) already for the journey (despite its…unique faults shall we say rofl) For my ‘part 1’ I’ll be travelling south, and staying over at a good friends place in around Leicester for a few days, and seeing some other familiar faces while I’m down there too… Now either though I’ve been a busy bee, I’ve have had time to be a nerd. So here’s what I’m intending on visiting while I’m down there: (not in particular order)

Warwick

Tewkesbury

Fotheringhay

Upton

I can’t wait for the latter in particular, which has played a massive influence and my inspiration in my aspects in what I want to fulfill in my life. I had two choices which one I should visit…meaning the ‘real’ site of Bosworth field or the proven real site of Bosworth field….

However, I have to add that the conferencing at Uno atm is awesome…there have been people so far which give everyone on shift…let’s say…mixed feelings. Other than the easter conference (which i consider to be hilarious, especially when this…eh-hum…I’ll leave that for another time folks.) So far, there have been loads of interesting people from Russia, Germany, America, Sweden and some locally known.

THE event I’m looking forward to is Wakestock. Yes…it’s that time of year again and the line-up is out of this world, and this year it was a choice between BeachBreak or…Wakestock…and Wakestock won hands down :P From what you’ve just read, you might have had either these reactions 1) :o - How can you say that? 2) Nice one! 3) …meh :P Well the amazing thing about WS is that it’s only 20min down the road, the line-up is flippin’ awesome, and….and…and…and…did I mention…WAKEBOARDING!

Of course as I mentioned earlier, I will be meeting some old friends of mine from afar…well Blackpool. I went last year for my best mates 21st, and from what I remember it was a particular good night…and the pictures certainly proved it…

That’s not all folks, I will be travelling to Pontefract, and the amazing town of York. Last time I went was on New Years Eve last year, and it was spectacular. I mean just seeing the cobbled streets and the hidden streets that hardly no-one knows about, and the architecture….wow!

I’ve deliberately left some places I intend to go and things that I will do, out as I’ll go into much detail in my next blog.

See you all soon, if not on here, then you’ll probably catch a glimpse of myself on Crimewatch in the near future…either due to a speed chase, impersonating a police officer…or…trying to take over the world…you know, the usual ;)

Until then, have a great Summer guys!

Aston Villa:4th/5th

Blackburn:12th/13th

Bolton:9th/10th

Chelsea: 1st/2nd

Everton: 6th/7th

Fulham: 14th/15th

Liverpool: 6th/7th

Man City: 4th/5th

Man Utd: 2nd/3rd

Newcastle: 18th/19th

Norwich: 16th

QPR: 11th/12th

Stoke: 7th/8th

Sunderland: 19th/20th

Swansea: 18th

Tottenham: 5th

West Brom: 13th/14th

Wigan: 16th/17th

Wolverhampton: 10th/11th

Relegated: Swansea, Norwich, Sunderland

*Newcastle will stay in the Premiership…JUST!

*Wigan will be close to the relegation spot, but will avoid the bottom three!

*QPR will make a good start to the season, and will probably finish in the top half of the Premiership

*The top spot will go to either Arsenal or Chelsea with Man Utd finishing at a close 2nd…

*Everton will not reach lower than 7th by mid-season

What

What others say……

Winners (top 4): Man Utd, Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal
